Testimonials
Anne has provided thoughtful & actionable feedback on my mystery novels, which are set in Victorian England. She has a keen ear for both accurate period details & authentic-sounding dialogue; and she is particularly good at identifying opportunities in the manuscript where I might develop the complexity of the plots & the psychological coherence of the protagonist & secondary characters. She is generous, astute, & a pleasure to work with; I would recommend her services to any writer, particularly authors of historical fiction.

Coordinating peer review can be a difficult process, and I was very happy when Anne agreed to provide peer review feedback. She was incredibly professional and enthusiastic and provided a high quality of feedback that balanced detailed comments with more general feedback and advise for authors. I would not hesitate to recommend her as an editor and reviewer!

Anne was easy to work with as a developmental editor and gently guided me with constructive and thoughtful comments on my historical novel. She caught inconsistencies in my chapters related to characters, plot, details, and historical facts but didn’t try to oversteer my work or change my writing style. She identified common grammatical mistakes and patterns, and overuse of words. She also identified and asked questions for me to think about. She didn’t try to answer them but these formed a list for discussion during our follow-up conversation. Her feedback was incredibly helpful as I continued to write and edit my novel and I know my end product will be all the better for her participation.

I’d been stuck for months on my current book, before working with Anne. My first drafts are pretty sparse, with mostly dialogue and some blocking of scenes. Anne helped me tease out setting details and character emotions to add depth to what I had on the page. And brainstorming with her about how to show what I’ve told or when I’m thinking about what’s coming next was not only easy, but lots of fun. She asked wonderful questions and even offered example scenarios that spun off all kinds of ideas in my head about how I could convey who this character was and what they were going through. I would recommend Anne to anyone needing help finding direction with their story. And if I find myself stuck again, I will definitely be calling on her services again.
Anne Morgan is a thoughtful marketing partner for indie authors. Without a huge marketing budget or team to keep our marketing efforts moving forward, Anne truly reminded me that my marketing efforts need to be enjoyable for me–readers, or potential readers, will know if I’m phoning it in. And they need to be sustainable. When Anne encouraged me to stick with one social platform, it was like I got the permission I needed to truly stick with ONE social platform and ensure my strategy includes occasional posts other places, points to where readers CAN find me on socials, and definitely schedule promo to get people on my newsletter.
I’m planning to implement and book another session with Anne after collecting data–or before if things seem to be going well and I feel like I’m ready for next steps.

As a bit of a closet writer, it can be daunting to share my work with others. Anne was super helpful in giving me really good feedback and suggestions to help guide me in finishing one of my stories. Her concrete suggestions and resources were very much appreciated, and have given me a lot to think about moving forward. I truly value her thoroughness and attention to detail. She was a pleasure to work with and I look forward to working with her again in the future as I revise and edit my work!
